Ok, what's the deal with the door locks on my 51?
What is the purpose/reason that there is only a door keyhole on the passenger side door?

I believe back in the day it was common practice to get in on the curb side of the vehicle and slide over instead of standing in the middle of the street waiting to get hit or your door ripped off like we do now...

Getting in on the curb side is correct but it was due to the roads being mostly dirt except in large cities. Bad weather and muddy roads and horse %^$& made getting in on the curb side almost a must so they only needed to unlocked one door.

Yep that's the same reason they moved the ebrake to the left side of the driver instead of on the floor shifter, to make it easier to slide across the seat and get out.
