for all you custom camper/hauling/camping sorta guys...
I found this interesting little place "Tin Can Tourists" that had some classifieds of vintage trailers/campers, etc. Thought you might be interested. This is the classified ad page, but if you are interested in the history/nostalgic pics, etc, you can click on the big yellow logo and go to the home page. Wasn't sure where to post this, so here it is: http://www.tincantourists.com/classified/
Here's another: http://www.vintagecampertrailers.com/ |

that second website was pretty cool, as if I didn't have enough things on my list to restore, now I have to go find a vintage camper!

Re: for all you custom camper/hauling/camping sorta guys...
yep, i enjoyed browsing them both. Like the idear of a camper on a C20. But then again, pulling one of those beautys would not suck either.
Funny, I'm getting ready to drive cross country here in a few weeks and I was looking at simple campsites for stopping to sleep iot save a few $. KOA=$32/night - for a patch of grass. What the heck happened??? Oh well. I'll just drive farther, stay in a cheaper hotel, and save $, and get where I'm going sooner. Ugh. Still want a camper anyway though!! Just gotta find the truck first! |

Re: for all you custom camper/hauling/camping sorta guys...
Hi Billy - I've been looking for a C20 Cheyenne Super Custom Camper in decent shape. That is whenever I'm not looking for a C10 swb... I have truck schyzophrenia (sp?)
My search has kinda been centered on the part I've already collected for a different cheyenne super that didn't come through - but I bought generic enough stuff that I'm probably ok in any red or ochre truck. Yes, narrow search band, but not in a huge rush -still trying to sell my 66 to make the room (and provide some $). I was pretty interested in the light yellow Cheyenne C20 CC in San Diego, but decided I didn't quite want a light yellow truck. Just personal preference on my part. Don't/Didn't you have a C30 CS custom camper for sale? Or was yours the light yellow C20? (can't keep track) Seems I've seen some stuff for sale here locally recently. Have a couple leads on some stuff, although the highlander i posted in another thread isn't what I was looking for exactly (what to do with my black buckets in med olive highlander!!??) but I DO really like that truck, and it's reasonably priced. More to follow - still holding out for that elusive C20 CS Custom Camper... Found one that might be all that in NC, but no reply yet from owner. Not sure it's overall condition, just going on 1 or 2 tiny pics. |

Re: for all you custom camper/hauling/camping sorta guys...
Hi Jocko & Longhorn, we showed our combination of 70 GMC Short Wide truck with 327, 200 4r, 3.73 posi and trailer a few weeks ago. It got a good response. I had the stripe and windcover painted to match the truck. What I learned was really good trailer tires and brakes are a must. Also, I went with a 1993 Aljo 16' trailer with dual axles. I have a Prodigy2 trailer brake module that charges my camper batteries and I bought a larger transmission cooler and trans temp gauge. I love the look of the older trailers, but I tried to keep trailer weight to about 2800 pounds with dual axles in case of a blow out and my wife and kids also like a head with a shower. I found its a balance of truck capacity, safety, comfort and family needs and wants. G.
