cam and lifter questions
Ive been having issues with my enigne not running good almost like someone pulled 4 wires off I cant figure it out I've been through the basic timing and carb tuning So I pulled the engine I know drastic but I had to or I just wanted to look busy. Im not sure if I installed a solid cam or a hyd cam I know I have hdy lifters. Will that make a big difference? should go with buying a cam that I know is a hyd cam? any suggestions

Re: cam and lifter questions
First off did you buy this cam as a kit, cam and lifters, yea pulling the engine was a little extreme, you should have pulled plugs one at a time and look at color first, black being rich, ash white to a hazy silver being way to lean, are they new plug wires, dizzy worn out, is this a new build, was the cam break in done correct, we need a little more info here....

Re: cam and lifter questions
How does everything look as far as wear?
http://www.hotrodlane.cc/New%20LS%20...Inspection.htm Since you have her apart you can go ahead and get a cam and lifter kit if it's in your budget. Is it small block Chevy? http://www.jegs.com/c/Cams-Valvetrai...10707/10002/-1 http://www.summitracing.com/search/P...d-Lifter-Kits/ Posted via Mobile Device

Re: cam and lifter questions
I'd recommend doing a compression test if you haven't already. Also what year /type of engine is it?

Re: cam and lifter questions
Just a thought but I have been caught before by simular simptoms, tried carburator, distributor and timing ect., Ended up being a power brake booster gone bad creating a major vacum leak. If you have power brakes check your booster and make sure it holds vacum. May not be your issue, just sounds simular to the one I was into, ran good one day and the next day no good.
