2000 5.3 overheating
I have 2000 chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 with the 5.3 and it is overheating. When it first started I replaced the thermostat, then the water pump, then the radiator, and the clutch fan and it continues to over heat. With it still overheating I thought that I might have had a bad thermostat, or water pump so I changed them again as well as the sending unit, but alas it still is running hot . I also have tested for a blown head gasket and it is fine. Any help please before I use some DuPont wrenches on it.

Re: 2000 5.3 overheating
It runs great but I did notice that the oil pressure has started to fluctuate and it popped a code PO332 which is a low voltage out put on a knock sensor.

Re: 2000 5.3 overheating
I know my 5.3 was a little clogged up from dexcool. There was just a bunch of restriction. I bought the best coolant flush I could and it actually made it stop. It used to overheat with the a/c on.
How is yours overheating. Under what conditions? How many miles are on the truck? Does the a/c have clogged fins in front of the radiator blocking air flow? Does the temp just keep climbing when you start the truck of just spike when you least expect it? Or under a load? Only on a hot day? -Scott Posted via Mobile Device
