Okay, What are high steer arms?? Are these just an upgrade for the stock steer arms? Are they for use in conjunction with a lift? I have never had a kingpin axle so kinda new to all this stuff. Thanks.

Re: High Steer Arms for D60 WTH??
Stock steering on a Dana 60 places the tie rod directly in front of the axle, making it extremely easy to bend it. High steer arms allow you to mount the tie rod above the leaf springs, thus keeping it out of harm's way for better clearance. You should also look into crossover steering while you're at it.
Here is a link to ORD's website that explains it better. http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog...0crossover.htm |

Re: High Steer Arms for D60 WTH??
High steer means to move the tie rod from the stock location at the knuckle to abover the knuckle. You remove the stock knuckle caps and place aftermarket steering arms. Bolt on your tie rod to the new arms up high. Run crossover style steering, and your drag link will shoot over to the passenger side.

Re: High Steer Arms for D60 WTH??
So it is mainly for hardcore wheelers then? Is the only advantage the placement of the tie rod?

Re: High Steer Arms for D60 WTH??
Essentially, for a daily driver its just shiny expensive parts that dont help much.
Crossover is worth it though. |

In order to do crossover steering, you'll need a steering box off a 2wd truck. |

Re: High Steer Arms for D60 WTH??
There are a few different companies that make a kit to do it. I went with an Offroad Design kit when I did mine on the Blazer, but there are a few others out there. Just remember that you'll need to get a 2wd steering box to make it work. Just Google crossover steering kits and it should bring them up.

Re: High Steer Arms for D60 WTH??
Here is the company O bought my kit from.
http://northwestfab.3dcartstores.com/Dana-60_c_33.html PS: Crossover may not clear without a lift. Talk to the mfg of each kit you're interested in. |

I have a 4" lift sitting in the garage waiting to go on, and I just found out I may be coming home from deployment a month earlier than I had expected, very excited to get going on my CC!!

Re: High Steer Arms for D60 WTH??
I thought and i could be wrong here that high steer needs crossover as its the same setup with some obvious extra pieces to move the tie rod out from the front, aside from that its also seems to be common piece on fixing the extremely infamous and highly annoying and dangerous death wobble the dana 60s just love to have
Comapanies that sell them northwest fab Off road design off road unlimited ballistic fab bluetorch fab sky manufacturing Wfo concept And others I can only vouch for off road design but not on the high steer part but they are a great company and have answered me a question for me Posted via Mobile Device
