Re: Lowering 72 C-10 any suggestions
Jeep TJ springs will work in the back and it gives you a decent drop, but I hear it makes hauling a challenge (really soft) .. yes, you could cut a coil out of your front springs but remember when you cut the coil it changes the spring rate too. What I'm saying is I wouldn't measure the length of the unsprung coil, then cut "2 inches" .. because the drop will be more than you think. One turn out of the spring (full turn) will give you at least 2" if not more. People do it all the time. It's a lot of work too.
Drop spindles are the way to go. It keeps all the geometry and alignment, shocks, etc. pretty much the same.

Re: Lowering 72 C-10 any suggestions
I heard a lot of complaints about CPP Customer Service when I bought my stuff, so I went a different route. ECE has some good stuff too. I hear Stan is the man to talk to. I found a little better pricing with McGaughys though.

Re: Lowering 72 C-10 any suggestions
What was the difference you found between McGaughy's and ECE? I really wanted to keep my truck 6 lug and avoid going with disk brakes but I can see that there is no way to do that if I use drop spindles. If I upgrade to disks I might as well go 5 lug as there are many more wheel options.

Re: Lowering 72 C-10 any suggestions
I did the McGaughys big brakes front and rear, .. modular spindles, etc.
P/N 63148 and 64203. My truck is a 70, so you might check me on these to make sure it would work with your 72. Actually POL sells a 6 lug disc setup I believe, and I think you can get dropped spindles. Nate's truck is 6 lug disc with spindles if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Lowering 72 C-10 any suggestions
I have 2.5" dropped spindles and disk brakes. No issues with either 15" rallies or 15" steelies. If using steelies, I believe you need ones from 71-up to accomadate the disk brakes.

Re: Lowering 72 C-10 any suggestions
Best, least expensive way in your case would be to cut one full coil off of your front springs. This will give you a 2"-2.5" drop. If you have coils in the back use a 2" drop block. If you have leafs, remove a few leafs to drop it.

Re: Lowering 72 C-10 any suggestions
.. just making sure.. 17" or larger wheels on the McGaughy's kit.
I agree with Zepp, 71-72 dropped spindles should be fine on disc brakes and 15's.
