My 1970 C/20 "Old School Metal"

For the last few years I've been looking at these Pick Ups, and the closer I got to 40 the more I wanted to buy one. I made sure to tell everyone I knew I was looking for one.

One day in May one of my bosses called me into his office. "This one starts out at a $200 bid and the action ends tonight" he said.
So, by 5:00 I had the highest bid at $450. I figured by the close of the auction I was bound to be out-bid. Well, I won... too bad I wasn't prepared for it.

Our house has a one stall garage, my mechanical skill are pretty much entry level and I am sure I will end up welding myself to the truck.
On the plus side, my workplace has been letting me store it in the yard, the truck has pretty simple workings and the many mechanics I work with love old cars.

I will post some pictures of what I have discovered so far...

It has a 4-Jet in it. I am guessing it is not original
The truck hadn't been run in 7 years, so we rebuilt the carb, charged the battery and fired her up. It started and ran pretty good, roughly at first but she smoothed right out. A rebuild is in the future plans, probably this winter. After replacing the plugs & wires (etc) it ran much better, especially after the corn came out of the muffler.

Dropped off my leaking radiator at the scrap metal place, $19... I guess that's OK, I paid $50 for the used one I put in.
I am going to replace some sheet metal this week (cab corners, floor...) but I found out my cross member was all rotted out. That foam had covered up the damage so I didn't see it until I carved it out.

carb id? cant tell from the pix. yeah defiantly not the oe carb. i've been staring at the pics and i think that's a Chrysler downdraft carb. more pics please.

it says 4-Jet on it, no ID which from what I could tell is definitive proof it was a 4-Jet. there is supposed to be a tag, but from what I read that is the first thing to disappear

it's an older carter 4bore..late 50 to mid 60s.the number should be stamped on the base plate in the front. im thinking it may be a carter bbd from the early 60s.

It is marked Rochester 4-Jet, but like you said from the 50-60s. After overhauling it it works fine so I hate to change it. Just an oddity... adds character??? The copper pipe made me laugh!

i wasn't aware Rochester was making them too, but it is the predecessor to the quadrajet so i guess it makes scene. I've only seen a few and they were all carters. apparently 4 bore carbs weren't that common till the 60s. most of what i get in from pre 60 is single or double bbls updraft carbs.

My plan this week was to cut & repair my cab floor, but after digging into it I am going to replace the whole floor. About all I got done this week was to knock a bunch of rust loose and learn to hate spray foam

and under it was a greasy grimy thing with a handle sticking out of it.

Prothane Motion Control or Energy Suspension body mount kits, any opinions? And where did you buy them? Are there better options?

the aftermarket body mounts are nice, but allot of times you cant get the body lines on the cab and bed lined up.it's only about a 1/4", but it's noticeable to extreme perfectionist like me. thats the only reason i don't use them on older trucks

Great buy. Liking the out come so far. By the way, LMC is a dealer of OEM parts. They bought that part of GM's parts after it became too old of a venue for them.

I got my new floor on Thursday. I had been cutting the old one all week, seems like I kept finding more holes. I put the new one in this weekend, I think 80% of my time was spent rechecking the position before welding.
