costs for shipping parts
Hey all you parts shippers, I need your wisdom as I don't normaly sell stuff. What is the cheapest way to ship about 50 pounds in a 4ft x 2 ft x 6 inch box to Texas?

Just a guess but I would think Greyhound would be the cheapest way to go.

It cost $40 from Ks to Ca. for a 67 chev grill UPS. Shipping prices are terrible!

For some reason I was thinking your package was over the 130 inch length + Girth requirement that most of the ground shippers have. You can get online quick quotes from UPS FedEx and USPS. Check all three of them and maybe Airborn express there can be quite a variance in price. One time one might have the best qoute and the next time going to a different zip the other carrier may be 50% less. Hope this helps

I dont know where in Texas you are wanting to ship so I just used a Dallas zip. From Bakersfield Ca. to Dallas Tx. it would cost 21.86 to ship that by Fedex and be there in 3 days, it would cost 31.77 to ship it by UPS and take up to 6 days and it would cost 28.26 by USPS parcel post and be there in 5 days, all of these were figured with 100.00 of insurance on the package.

Fed-Ex is the best for sending heavy stuff. Had to send my old 21" monitor that had died while still under warranty to Hot 'lanta a few months back. It was only about a 100-120 mile trip but it weighed about 90lbs. The post office won't touch anything over 70lbs. and UPS wanted over $50. Fed-Ex shipped it for $37 and that was with $900 insurance (wanted to make sure it didn't get "Lost"). I had considered driving it there myself until I got the Fed-Ex price.
