Which one would you choose - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

There is either Button Head or Hex Head. I am leaning towards Hex Head. One they are easier to get and two it just looks more industiral which is kinda the look I am going for. I am also going to use the same style bolts for my fenders and stuff. All SS bolts.

I couldn't even get the bolts to go all the way in at first. I had to get a tap and clean out the holes and a bunch of crud fell out of the bolt holes and now they just glide right in. I will probably put blue Locktite on the bolts when I acually install them.

i'm going with button head bolts on my fenders, and a few other places! i like the looks of the button heads bolts, but hex bolts are alot easier to buy!

I would feel a lot more confident about getting a stuck hex head bolt out as opposed to a stuck button head bolt.

Those hex heads would look cool with the numbers ground off the tops and then domed slightly in a lathe or drill press. Just enough to make them convex without removing too much of the hex faces. A buddy of mine does this on his builds and it looks great. Subtle and clean.

For peace of mind I would use some split lock header bolts or equivalent.

Personally, I would go with hex heads, but I would go with the smaller stainless steel 7/16" head (or 3/8" can't remember the size of them). These look nice and are easier to work with.

Hex head, you will be having tool stripping issues with dome heads. Domes look cool but allen wrenches can damage them especially if you use any Locktite.

I am going with the Hex Head Bolts but in Grade 8 instead of SS. Getting more feedback on the SS bolts and how much trouble they will be. I forget about how they turn brown with the heat. The exaust pipes looked great on my BMW Moto for about 10,000 miles.

Probably depends on the type of SS too, but either way I'd definitely go hex. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to not be able to get those off because of a stubborn button head
