How does factory TF speaker mount?

Looking to add factory style radio and speaker to my 58, how does the speaker mount between visors? Is there a bracket? Any pics out there?

If I remember correctly ( haven't had mine out since 1999) the 4 screws going through the spaeker box are long and just go through the metal panel above the windshield. I can not remember if there is a big hole for the speaker magnet.

No cutout for stock speaker magnet, just the four screws and a hole for speaker wire which runs down the driver's "A" pillar. Speaker enclosure fits over rear view mirror bracket.

Mounts between the visors and no big hole.

Re: How does factory TF speaker mount?

why oh why would you want to do this?
they work fine for am radio, but we have this new fangled fm stereo in most parts of the country

kick panels, doors or both sides of the seat will get you stereo.
look in my interior build, a set of kicks work well even with the vents still in place.
you can build better kicks than the ones they sell out of cheap abs plastic, for a lot less too.

Although they are not the most complicated pieces to make, I factored time vs. money and bought the black ABS kick panels with speaker molds, and i love them! they are clean, simple and did exactly what i needed - and i didnt have to spend any time trying to fab something. I love em.

My interior IS black, and that made color issues non-existent ...

With a couple of small hinges and a latch, I am turning mine into a storage box for sunglasses, etc.

Re: How does factory TF speaker mount?

tx58: at a minimum do like maximus did ^^^

or try your hand at fiberglass...
i think you could put a bigger set over the vents and get some nice sound.
i had a set of drive-in speakers in my first 58 truck and thought they were the bomb (in 1973)
i moved up to a set of radio shack box speakers in the cab corners, they were decent.
i went all out in truk, because i could. that and the speakers, sub and amps were free

maximus, do you have vent louver covers for your? i have a set i could send you
