Re: Do you Cover Your Toy and When ?

I have never like covers outdoors, at least for long periods. Seems like the always have rubbed the paint down and were more of a pain they they were worth. I know I get aggravated when I have to park mine outside of the shop for very long. Stupid pollen and humidity really makes it look like crap and is sometimes a real pain to get back off.

Re: Do you Cover Your Toy and When ?

depends what kind of cover you have, i keep mine covered all the time and it sits outside under my carport hav'nt had any probelm yet and it's been 2 years, don't get a cheap cover, i got the best LMC had, it's weather resistant and soft where it touches the paint, most the good ones have about 4 layers

Re: Do you Cover Your Toy and When ?

mines been covered since january except for the week i was home to install two flomaster 10's. all the rubber is rotted or gone and in oregon where it rains all but 2 weeks out of the year it was a must to keep the rust from getting worse. i have the 4 layer and it works great. granted i don't have a nice paint job to protect but the soft liner strapped properly doesn't shake and rub off the primerish job on it. it keeps the leaves off in the fall too. but you shouldn't have a leaf problem in houston like we do. if anything it will just keep your paint from fading.

. . . .

Don't use a polyethylene tarp to cover your truck, as seen in the first picture, below . . . they will keep it from getting wet, but they don't let the moister out that gets underneath. The interior can get moldy even if the truck is kept under a carport.

The Technalon material, as seen in the second picture, will allow the moister under the cover to pass through it.

I have the best one from LMC and it rubbed my paint off the corners of my hood.

Re: Do you Cover Your Toy and When ?

Even the best cover will damage the paint if grit, dirt, and dust make their way between the paint and the cover.

Re: Do you Cover Your Toy and When ?

I got a steal on two cali car covers the truck cover is for a 2000 or newer short bed fits great on the 67 excecpt the mirriors witch they provide mutiple mirror pockets to sew on the cover.

Ironicly from the same guy the same swap meet I got another for a late 90's camaro that fits great on my 81

hell of a steal for $40

they only get covered over the long winter in the garage helps keep'em clean and I must say the california covers are great covers but even they will scratch when they get dirty

I got a cheepy as a gift for the pontiac but it sits outside and doesnt let it dry out right I dont use it any more

Re: Do you Cover Your Toy and When ?

I keep my truck covered in the garage , cover prevents lots of dust. Also scared if I leave garage door up my damn neighbors cats will be perched up on the hood

Re: Do you Cover Your Toy and When ?

I never use a cover on any of my cars/truck that I have had because I like to look at them when I walk by. You can't always drive them but I love looking in them like a kid in a candy store and they are my own vehicles. Haha

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Do you Cover Your Toy and When ?

Yes, all the time. Truck parked outside year round, original paint. In the southwest it's the sun that's the issue to guard against. I use the good cover, evolution fabric I think. The cover is light but bulky, easy enough to deal with. The truck is covered all the time except once every two weeks when I take it out, so it's not a daily driver. Cover also keeps off bird droppings leaves out of the cowl etc. if I had indoor storage i might not use one. or new paint eeeelkkk then I'd worry about EVERYTHING hurting it

Mine's garaged all the time. The ceiling's the only cover it's got.
