My New Project 86 C10
This is my new project. An 86 C10 Silverado. My Dad passed away last July and I bought his truck from my step-Mom for $1000. I tried to give her $2500 but a grand is all she would take. He had bought the truck a few years before and it was his baby. He rebuilt the 350 engine and added an Edelbrock intake manifold and an upgraded exhaust system. Everything is in great shape and all the electrical items and a/c works great (except the windows are SOOO slow). 120,000 miles on the odometer. I drove it back from Reno to Phoenix in July (110 degrees) loaded down with tools and toys left to me and my brothers, and it ran like a top. It needs shocks and the tranny pan gasket leaks. I think my wife will learn to hate this truck! Let the project begin.

Sorry about your father. Nice clean truck.
About the windows: use silicone spray in the window channels. Make the windows move SOOO much faster. I took the door panels off to get the entire channel.

Sorry about your father dude. That's pretty much how I got my truck, my dad died and left it to me. I guess a lot of us get these trucks this way.
But yours looks MUCH better than mine did when I got it. Is it already dropped?? If not..drop it 3/5 with some Doestch Tech Shocks |

Not dropped yet. I'm new to the lowering movement (grew up in small town-lifted-4x4-hell) so I'm taking it slow to figure out the best way to go. Plus I'll need to get the tires and wheels before it's dropped. It'll take a while for me to hide... I mean save enough money for all that! I'm looking at all the really nice trucks you guys have and getting a lot of good (and expensive) ideas. I'll be asking questions! Bear with me!

Welcome to the site. Hope the trucks brings to you as much joy as your dad had with it. Good luck with the project. If you need some inside scoop on dropping a truck checkout my website. I have pics of my drop and other info.

Your Dad had good taste, take care of the truck like he did and it will last another 120,000mi. Do yourself a favor and go to AutoZone and order their Bilstine shocks, they have a real good price on them and they are the best upgrade I have made to my 78 and my 55. I have had many shocks of different brands and these ride the best and work the best They are the last shocks you will buy.

Keep the truck , throw the wife
I was just kidding
Good advice about wives:I tell mine that if I didn't have the truck I spend time ( & sweat & tears ) on , I should go to the local pub drink some beers and come back home drunk & pissed...So she has the choice ! it works any time... I'm just kidding again I think she may not complain , as I don't drink ( too much) ,don't smoke , don't look at other women ( when she's with me ) , don't watch that stupid soccer on TV... And she loves to drive my truck sometimes , when I allow her to (happens little , as she cannot distinguish the front from the rear ) Nice truck you have , nicer than mine anyway The Baron ____________________________________________________ 1979 C10 2WD LWB (Olds 350 , auto tranny ) 1977 Chevy Impala Sedan 250ci ( "Ye Old Reliable" ) 1960 Girl Friend ( frame still good , body has some dents ) |
