1969 C10 build "La Trokita Project"
I picked this truck up around a a year or so ago. I intended to use as work/shop truck. Well we all know how that goes.
Here is how it looked when I got it. 1969 C10 short wide. I picked it up for only $200. It runs strong, just smoked real bad. I just put newer ralleys and some tires, and nice little work truck. Well I noticed that it was leaving some prestone puddles every time I parked, so I had to stop using it. Found that all the freeze plugs were rusted out. Well While parked I replaced the rockers. I found a motor on a lucky break. I have a friend that is rebuilding a 69 Nova.He found a mint 4 door parts car for the front clip he needed. They told him it ran. When he got there found it only had 58k miles on the 307. Since the 307's are not a real popular engine he sold it to me for $400. Now my plans are dropped and bagged. Custom paint, wheels, and whatever I can come up with. Will post pics as I up load them to computer.

Re: 1969 C10 build "La Trokita Project"
$200 !
Is that a typo? I think you should sell it to me for that price you clearly already have a nice truck so this would take away from that one Really though, Great looking truck. I am jealous. Congrats!

Re: 1969 C10 build "La Trokita Project"
It actually ran good with a can of restore in it LOL. Here is a picture of the 307 as it was when I bought it.
I took it partially apart and cleaned it up a bit. Painted it put new gaskets, timing set (it had the old nylon gears, all cracked). Installed a generic chrome set and an Edelbrock performer I had stashed in garage. It's at this point where the project took a turn for the best. I look at that engine and say I have to do something about the truck. So yesterday I striped it down. everything is unbolted from frame. Time to finish the not so great floors and cab corners. getting stripped Just sitting on frame for now. Tomorrow I'm going to look at a frame thats already set up for bags.

Re: 1969 C10 build "La Trokita Project"
Did a little more to the truck. Now that the box is off I am welding up the cab corners. Here the rust is cut out. When it cools off I will weld the patch panels on.(it's close to 100 now.
A teaser shot of the frame I scored for it. The frame is off a 65. I will cut off the rear section and graft to the front section of mine. I will use the front end part (all new) on my front end. I still have to modify the lower a frames to get it to drop all the way down.

Re: 1969 C10 build "La Trokita Project"
Got some time to do a little welding (trip for work got cancelled). I welded both the cab corners. The one on drivers side was real bad, so I used most of the patch panel.
After fist layer of filler. Passenger side wasn't so bad, so I just used a small section of panel. With filler. Now I have to finish welding up the floors. Started with small sections, but kept finding bad metal. Going to end up looking like Frankenstien. I'll post pictures as I weld it up. Picked up some more air bag goodies on a local forum. It's a complete set-up for a honda. I already traded off the air cylinders. I picked it up for $150. Killer deal, I needed most of those parts.

Re: 1969 C10 build "La Trokita Project"
I got some time to work on the floors. Wish I would have bought complete floors. I ended up with a bunch of small patches. It'll work, carpet will cover it.
Coated it with some of the new rust stabilizer. Supposed to change the rust to something inert. Tomorrow I will take it off the frame to seal it good, and get it ready for a coat of Al's liner inside and out.

Re: 1969 C10 build "La Trokita Project"
Thanks, got a small package in mail today.
Worm drive pop door kit. I have had bad luck with the solinoid type, don't want to get locked out (joking of course, always have an emergency cable release). I have the day off gonna see if I get the door handle holes, side reflectors, and bed pockets welded up today.

235/75/15 and they are for sale (i'm going the dayton with buffed WW route) Work has had me out of country the last month or so. Finally got a little time to work on truck. I cut the 64? front end off the frame I bought (different rad support and bumper mount). Stipped the parts off the 69's frame, and cut the rear section off. Will put back together sometime this week.

Re: 1969 C10 build "La Trokita Project"
Got the frame in one piece again. All thats left is to finish the welds on the rear gussets. Here are a couple of pictures.
Got the inner rockers and rear cab supports welded on. Also cleaned all the old undercoating off. I went with bed liner instead of undercoating. Will finish up the welding and get it painted this evening (satin black).

Re: 1969 C10 build "La Trokita Project"
I finally have the frame in the garage for some paint. Decided to smooth the welds around the gussets. I plan on having a hinged cover over the rear suspension, For access. So it will be viewed.
getting the frame body work done. Got the frame all cleaned with soapy water a scuff pad. Will pain today as soon as it warms up (in 40's now). Also started on doors. Got he door handle holes welded up. and all the way to primer. This last picture was taken early this morning, notice the color is kind of funny. . Today I will paint frame, and install the pop kit motors. Will post pics this evening.
