What is the original spec of my t-stat for a '78 350 motor??
I have a '67 that came with a '78 350 motor with no heater/ac unit (been deleted). Now, what is the recommended t-stat degree for my motor for efficiency in performance and also gas mileage. Thanks!!

Re: What is the original spec of my t-stat for a '78 350 motor??
In a warn climate like Southern California the thermostat, in general, will not effect performance or gas mileage. The thermostat also will not materially effect the operating temp of the motor, only how long I takes to get there. Your truck will run at its own operating temp, (based on general well being of the engine, the tune, and the condition of your cooling system) with a 160 or a 190 t-stat. The 160 will let radiator fluid into the block sooner but the engine will eventually seek out its own operating temp within a short period of time. In SoCal I'd be running a 180 degree thermostat.
