'67-'72 Kick Panel speaker enclosures

These panels require no cutting of your cab to install and they have provision for a 6 1/2" speaker of your choice (not included). They also have cut outs to use existing vent holes. Different colors of carpet are available and in the near future they will be available as a raw slick finish for you to color match your truck. They are available to fit '67-72 chevy trucks. They have predrilled holes for you to screw into the metal of the cab.

Nice work. I tucked my speaker into the vent hole to keep it out of the way. I made a pocket out of fiberglass to protect the back side of the speaker.

Do you have a shot of the driver side and how does it fit with the floor dimmer switch with the speaker that low? Any clutch pedal interference?

I will get a shot of it. No interference with the clutch pedal. In fact it is all behind the emergency brake pedal. The dimmer switch I did move up a little bit, but it was just a preference thing. The original mounting space was still accessible behind the speaker enclosure.

don't mean to be a pain, but I'm looking at that picture and it looks like the speaker will clear the switch itself, but wouldn't it get in the way of actually using the dimmer? Have you shipped any to someone who has the factory dimmer? I love the panels themselves just curious is all...

You aren't being a pain by any means! I would rather you ask all the questions you want instead of having to pay to ship them to you and them not working. I have located the speaker closer to the front on one set I did so the dimmer switch could be accessed. On another set the dimmer was in a different location by as much as 2", both factory installed trucks. On my own personal truck I moved the dimmer switch higher on the floorboard/firewall. I guess the point I'm trying to make is these panels may require some modification of your vehicle or the enclosure. Just no way to do a custom job without the vehicle here. If you order a set and they don't work just send em back, no problem as long as they aren't altered.

No, thank you. Your questions did make me do a little follow up with a couple people I have sold these to and found this out.... On the 5.25 speaker ones the dimmer is fine where it is, on the 6.5 speaker the dimmer had to be moved upward. The way I make these enclosures cover the exsisting cut out in the floor covering (completely by accident). So I guess I should say, no factory dimmer is not useable in its original location. Sorry I mistated my original comment.

Not a big deal. I just wasn't sure how you had done it. I thought maybe you had moved the speaker on that side farther up the wall but I thought even then, those people who have large feet might not be able to get to it anyway. Unfortunately since I still have a stock tank I have a limited number of options when it comes to speakers so moving the dimmer switch isn't a huge hassle compared to moving the gas tank. Granted I may move the tank down the road anyway but that won't make these kick panels look or sound any worse!

LOL I cant afford to move my tank either so I have the crazy thing stuck in the bed under a bed cover. Not real safe I'm sure but hey gotta do what it takes for AWESOME sound!

I kinda thought the dimmer might be an issue. I worked for a while on location before I finally just got rid of the vent and stuffed my 6.5's in there. You can't see my speakers very well by just looking in the window, that was the main objective.

Great looking work and a lot better than the ABS ones.

Thanks jimmydean. When I first started making these it was because I thought the ABS ones looked cheap and cheesy. I have had several offers to make a mold and mass produce these from fiberglass but I'm old fashoned and insist on making them myself. Guess I'll never get rich at selling them but, I'm not gonna "cheap" em out either. I'm ok with selling a few and putting the money towards my ole '70. It's forums like this that keep the little guy alive and the dream of having something different than anyone else.

I thought about using the vent but I don't have AC and in the summer that's a really nice breeze haha

I didn't like all the pine needles flying into my cab when I opened the vent. I should remake to pockets, but they work and nobody but me knows how ugly they are when installed.

I agree, the ABS ones look bad IMO. I've been building custom kicks, doors, panels of various size/shape for years. I like your design and the wood back is much better for sound than plastic, too.

Could they be covered in black vinil to make the job easyer.? My thing is i dont have carpet so the ones with carpet just would not look right with my rubber mat.
