70 c10 lowering
I'm new here so bare with me...I want to lower my 70 c10 2in the front and 3 in the back. What the best most economical way to acheive this? Will I need new shocks? Will this help the ride of my truck? Thanks for any info you can give.

Hello & welcome to the board. The words best and economical don't usually work too well together..... While not the most recommended way, some owners have cut one coil off of the front springs for about 2 1/2" of drop and a 2" lowering block in the rear. the rear coils can't be cut safely. The safest way would be to buy drop coil springs for the front and rear. That way you can get pretty much get whatever drop you want and do it safely. I can't help with the cost of drop springs because I have never bought any. LockDoc

Re: 70 c10 lowering
Your right about the "best and economical",doesn't realley go together. I have no problem dropping a few hundred on some springs, but do you know if I will need drop shocks or will the stock ones work and will it throw of any other componants of the drive train? Thanks for the response

Re: 70 c10 lowering
Welcome from TN ! You're not too far from me.
Come up and I'll even help you drop it. The best way to do it without impacting your ride would be to go with drop spindles. While yes, cutting one coil will work it will require you to get an alignment, new shocks, and by cutting the coil it will relieve some of the spring tension. = a little more bouncy ride. If you go with spindles, make sure you get them for 63-70 model year so your balljoints will be the same. (might as well replace them while you have it apart) Now's the time to do a disc conversion too, assuming it has drums on it now.
