454 swap problems
Hey guys im working on doing a motor swap in my buds 69 Swb, we are going from a sbc to a bbc, and have heard I need different motor mounts! Can I make the sbc mounts work?
The bbc will be running full length headers, if that makes a difference. Thanks! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 454 swap problems
The voice of experience here,, Get the big block stands and DO NOT mess with trying to cobble up the small block ones. It aint worth it... Look at my Cheap Bastard build in the projects forum,, see what I started out with..

Re: 454 swap problems
Your headers will never fit with the sb stands. You should be able to find bb 68-71 stands for less than $100 and 72 only stands for $150 or so. (72's use the modern style mounts like 73 up.) Also, I have seen mention of using 71 bb stands, sb biscuits and a large washer like from a harmonic balancer bolt to save money over bb biscuits. (the bb stands have a larger hole and use biscuits with a spacer/ washer. I have not tried this personally but might try itif I ever get around to swapping a 454 for the 250 in my 71 GMC.

Re: 454 swap problems
I used 73-87 mounts removed from my big block donor truck. The top holes matched the 68 frame and had to drill one new hole on bottom, but no problem. My Chevelle headers fit fine.
