re-color dash pad
Bought a no-cracks dash pad. It`s brown and I am going to make it black with some vinyl dye from Eastwood. What kind of prep should be done before appliying dye?

Re: re-color dash pad
i'd scrub it with alcohol or prepsol and a rag and then lightly scuff it with some scotch brite, then hit it with the alcohol again. You really need to get the years of dirt and armor all off so you have a nice clean surface to work with.

Re: re-color dash pad
has anyone heard of leaving it out in the sun after cleaning and before dying ? this supposedly opens the pores and softens it so dye adheres better.

Re: re-color dash pad
I got a new OEM dash and needed to paint it to match my existing interior with vinyl paint. Cleaning it is VERY important and you need to get every spec of grease off of it or it won't adhere properly.
I used SEM products to clean and paint it. SEM Soap http://semproducts.com/product-catal...ucts/sem-soap/ SEM Vinyl Prep http://semproducts.com/product-catal...ts/vinyl-prep/ |
