Today was a good day

Got a nice little gift today. My neighbor has this nice 1970 Chevy truck. Battery dies so he decided to pick up a new one and long story short hooks it up backwards because the PO used red for the ground and black for positive.
Needless to say it melted some wiring.
Since he doesn't want to deal with the mess and has another newer truck he gave it to me
Ran great before the wiring fried. Now i need to figure out if I can just replace the melted wires or put in a new hardness. Also need to figure out what else was taken out.
Any advice would be appreciated...

Re: Today was a good day

You can buy that front light/charging system harness that is plug and play for $130 from LMC. I've used it before and it was good quality. You will need a new plastic gutter for the core support. Great deal. Congrats.

Re: Today was a good day

A new front wiring harness is not that expensive. I got mine from Classic Heartbeat (site vendor). They are made by M&H Wiring and are a plug and play deal. Has all the factory clips and conectors, correct wiring wrap, and even comes with the new plastic harness channel.

My 10 year old called dibs so we have some time. Figure since I got it for free I can justify putting some $$ into it.
What will it cost to bag it?

I think all 70 trucks are trucks.

Looks like your truck has good bones. Keep us posted on your progress.

That's awesome. I like the modified air cleaner! Was there really a key in the compartment on the passenger side inner fender?

Re: Today was a good day

So I got the under hood harness from a board member. Took about 2 hours to pull the old and install the new one. Threw in a battery and she fired right up. Drives and shifts like a champ.
Took out another two pounds of useless wringing, gave her a bath, and fixed some little stuff.
Overall this truck is solid no rust.

Look on the parts board, there are a lot of people parting trucks. Try to find someone close to you, shipping is a killer on the heavy stuff...
