Seatbelts for a 72
I just bought a 72 and need to install shoulder belts so my son can ride in it with me. Everywhere i look it sounds like people have complaints about the universal belt kits... anyone had success buying shoulder belts and just bolting them in? Any advice would be awesome!

. . . .
Mine were made at Morris Classic Concepts in South Carolina. Great people to do business with. They have many different types and colors. Mine were just what I wanted. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...w7bNuXDx5u1lMA . . . . |

Re: Seatbelts for a 72
I installed mine on my 68 CST. It was simple. Pull the seat out and everything bolted right in. I'm pretty sure I got it all from Brothers Truck. I like them alot better than the lap belts.

Re: Seatbelts for a 72
Thanks guys! The Brothers belts look great... so expensive for a guy like me, though! I have to have a shoulder belt... I am 34... never wore seat belts when I was young... had old Chevy after old Chevy, etc... Now? I feel naked without one... plus my son is dying to ride in dad's new yellow truck and he is still in a car seat...I don't want a show truck... just safety and a tough old ride to navigate our needs for a 4x4... I've wanted an old truck back, like this, for years...

Re: Seatbelts for a 72
So are these just a bolt in issue? I was looking for the shoulder bolt hole and don't seem to have one. 70swb. could I just make one? there is a hole in the corners for some 3" speakers. Anyone have the measurements where these should go?

Re: Seatbelts for a 72
Well... what I keep seeing people say is either A.) The buckle stud that mounts to the floor is too short, or B.) The passenger seat belt has to be twisted around, because it is universal, and therefore falls under the seat because the whole buckle will not make it through the seat... as well as things like the shoulder belt won't thread into the factory port at top... etc...

Re: Seatbelts for a 72
I did a write up on my seat belt install. The seat belts bolted up with no problem with no length issues (mind you my fuel tank is no longer mounted in the cab).
I used the same seat belts as used in The rebirth of El Scrocho (only difference is his are for bucket seats and mine are for bench). If you read his post, you'll see he had to relocate the driver's side mount a few inches to clear his cab-mounted fuel tank. These appear to be the same seat belts available from www.gemstreetrods.com.

Re: Seatbelts for a 72
Oh and the 3-point kits I bought had the bolt already in the bracket to be bolted into the 'B' pillar and went in without any issues.

Re: Seatbelts for a 72
That's awesome to hear... my tank is in cab... (I am not NEAR addressing that!)... I am already paying a guy to do my floorboards... I have more love for the trucks than skill to fix 'em... but I can tinker! I will shop from all of these awesome recommendations!

Re: Seatbelts for a 72
I have looked for a 67-72 with the optional belts... (fat chance, i know)... but the difference will be the tank in cab... unless you have the same? It should change where the retractor goes... If you bolted them right in, I am interested, though! I can find a 73 and up anywhere...
