Re: 67 Cheby's CPP big brake kit step by step !
after the caliper is removed you are now free to take the rotor off of the hub , next step remove the 3 bolts holding your caliper bracke in place ! you are now ready to install your new brake system !

Re: 67 Cheby's CPP big brake kit step by step !
There is an assortment of spacers so this kit can be used in several different applications, so step one is i put the rotors on the hub and snugged 2 nuts down to hold it in place so we could figure out how many spacers to use to center the caliper up !

Re: 67 Cheby's CPP big brake kit step by step !
First install the T shaped bolts to hold your bracket and spacers , I started by dividing the spacers in half and put all of them on each side

Re: 67 Cheby's CPP big brake kit step by step !
after sliding on the caliper bracket and snugging it up we are ready to test fit the caliper ! the spacers you see laying on the ground are the ones i had to take out to get the caliper to fit the rotor right !

Re: 67 Cheby's CPP big brake kit step by step !
Did you have to turn down the center or hub total diameter of your original 6-lug axles?
That's the part that most brake companies don't tell you, up front. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 67 Cheby's CPP big brake kit step by step !
I must be thinking of the 5-lug kits, since their rotor hats are double drilled with the smaller 5x4.75 car pattern also.
I'm sure McGaughy's rear disc brake kits require machine work on the axle. Your CPP kit looks very nice! Posted via Mobile Device

Looks good Mike, those brakes in the first pic sure look familiar! BTW, following this thread will help when I do mine although I'm not replacing disk with disks so there will be some difference.

CPP BIG BRAKE....part 2....FRONT 13 Inch rotors cross drilled and slotted with dual piston capilers !! The first few pictures include a few extra steps (CPP ships this kit completely put together) I took the kit apart , smoothed and painted my spindles

Re: 67 Cheby's CPP big brake kit step by step !
Here we go , slide the hub onto the spindle, make sure you line up the key way on the washer and the slot in the spindle , next install the castle nut snug enough that you can insert the cotter pin and bend it around the edges of the nut, next tap on the dust cover ...use a rubber hammer so you dont dent it like i did !

Re: 67 Cheby's CPP big brake kit step by step !
Next set the rotors on and throw on the temporary bolts or lugnuts to hold them in place until you can hang the capiler in place ! only 2 bolts to install the caliper and you are done with that part !

Re: 67 Cheby's CPP big brake kit step by step !
Next lets go ahead and install the castle nuts and cotter pins on the upper and lower ball joints, then lets go ahead and add those pretty braided brake lines !

Re: 67 Cheby's CPP big brake kit step by step !
I have this same kit in 5 lug and can attest to how well it goes together, absolutely no hiccups. Having driven on it also I can say that it actually works pretty good, quite a bit more bite when you get on them than my previous set-up(73-87 front discs and factory 67 rear drums). Its not gonna turn your truck into a ZO6 or anything but using production car/truck calipers makes them cheap and easy to service and dead solid reliable.
