Back spacing help

I'm trying to order wheels and need to know the front and rear back spacing.

Front - 17x8 or 8.5
Rear - 17x9.5

Help a newbie out! Thank you!

Re: Back spacing help

Fleetside or stepside? Have you measured the rear axle housing to be sure it's the later (71-72) housing ? I'd say it probably is .. but I would want to be sure.

Re: Back spacing help

Most of the trucks running 20s go with an 8.5" wheel up front with a 5.25 in backspacing. I would think it would be the same for 17s..(?) On the back a 20x10 with 5.5" backspacing. This assumes your stock rear housing is a 71-72 (wider one)

So for your wheels:

17x8 - Id do 4.75" bs
17x8.5 - 5.25 bs

On the rear

17x9.5 - 5" bs
17x10 - 5.5" bs

This is all my opinion, and just trying to help. These measurements are just a target and depending on tire sizes you choose it might work and might not.

Re: Back spacing help

Thank you CC69Rat!!

Anyone disagree or have any other suggestions? You only get one shot at ordering wheels and then your kinds stuck with them.

Best,

Re: Back spacing help

Id suggest buying a Percy's wheelrite. Summit racing sells them. That way you can measure to be certain to get what you want

Re: Back spacing help

I'm trying to find a wheel over the counter without going custom. (If possible) That is a great idea though.

Re: Back spacing help

Thank you..... I just figured someone has done this before and would know what back spacing they purchased. I'm looking at the Boss 338 which is very popular.
