Got my new wheels, help with tire size please!

Well, my wheels came in last week. Picked up Coys C-57 20x8.5 Fronts and 20x10 Rears. The front end is all apart ready for rebuild. A-Arms and other misc stuff is being powder coated.

Can you guys help me with the right tire size selection? I want a good amount of tire height, and not the rubber band look.

Current height if the 15 inch wheel / tire that is on the truck in below pictures is 26"

I don't know exactly how much the truck was lowered. Maybe you guys can help me figure this out?

Re: Got my new wheels, help with tire size please!

The ideal sizes are 295/40 for the rear and 255/40 front. If you want a little more side wall out back, you can do a 295/45. You're limited on the front to keep from rubbing. Do a search on on the site on the sizes I mentioned for plenty of pics.

Thats gonna look sweet, by the way. Post pics when they're mounted up!

* edit..I forgot to ask. What backspacing did you get?

Coys recommended the backspacing, I'll have to check when I get home. Thanks for the reply! I can't wait to get it back together. I'll definitely get plenty of pics up for you.

Re: Got my new wheels, help with tire size please!

i went with 5.5 back spacing on the rear. 295/40 rear tires. 255/40 front. Have not mounted the fronts yet, b/c im waiting on my disc set up. I went with Toyo Proxie ST2 tires. (They were one of the only brands I could find in the sizes you recommended) More pics to come. (hopefully soon!)

Re: Got my new wheels, help with tire size please!

BTW, My rear is off for some reason. The driver side tire actually hits the inner fender well. So i ordered 1" wheel adapter spacers (

The wheels will actually look a little better out an inch, and I like the deep dish with the backspace I have....

If the rearend is not centered,... you need an adjustable track bar to recenter it after lowering.
You probably need drop shocks and a set of rear shock relocators as well.

Do you have any pics of the rear suspension?

I have two pics that I took of the rear brake lines. (they sent me the ones for rear disc) ughhh

The rear end will be my next project once I get the front back together. Thanks for the input guys...looks like I will be getting a adjustable bar.

Thanks for the compliments. I will definitely get plenty more pics up as soon as the front end is back together.

Look at ECE for your parts.
www.earlyclassic.com.

Their Super Track Bar kit is really nice.
Drop shocks are KYB brand.
Rear shock relocator brackets will help "stand up" the rear shocks so they work better.

Well, I got the wheels on it! Here are a few pics. Also got the adjustable bar on the rear so nothing is rubbing anymore. Brakes are very spongy and pedal is low. Guess I need to re bleed the system. Almost road ready though!

Looks great!

What master cylinder and prop valve did you install with your disc brake conversion?

Looks awesome! Just installing the track bar re-aligned the rear? That's an easy fix!

Re: Got my new wheels, help with tire size please!

I'm running 305/45/20 for the rear and 255/40/20 in the front. The rear tires just barley fit under the truck with 7" of drop. Lots of fine tunning with adjustable track bar.

Thanks for all the compliments! I agree, it could come down a little more. But for now she is staying like this. Ive spent enough $$ for now.

I'm using a MBM Proline kit I bought off ebay. It had the master cyl, power booster, and prop. valve all in a kit for disc brake conversion.

Those wheels look great! I have to ask... do you get better radio reception with your antenna like that?
All kidding aside, I like what you've done with your truck. Great job.
