Slot Aluminum Mag Wheel Help - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've been looking around the forum and I'm really digging the look of the old Indy style slotted mags on these trucks but I'm trying to find out if they will work with my application. I've got a 70 swb fleetside with factory 6-lug drums but I'm planning to do a disc/drum setup. I've seen that these wheels came in 4,5,6, & 8 lug patterns but what I can't find out is if they will clear disc brakes. I'd really like to get a set but before I scour the entire web looking for some I need to know if I will be able to upgrade to discs with them. Also, if some will and some won't work, how do I identify the right wheels? I'm also planning a 4/6 drop so I'd like something that wouldn't rub. Maybe 15x7 and 15x8 or 8.5. Anyone have a set on a disc/drum truck so I can bypass the backspacing guessing game?

Well I have them on my 87' and they fit fine cept that the front center caps dont fit right when you put them on trucks(that what I was told) The rear drums just fit around the drums(just) and work fine. The front caps dont fit all the way on due to hub clearance but they do look cool. And if they fit the 87' they will fit the 70 when you do a 5 bolt disk brake swap. The only thing i dont like is the maintenance... Im tired of polishing...Im thinking of switching to Rally rims with Vintiques 10s on the back and 8s on the front

Thanks for the info. Nice looking truck by the way. What are your wheel sizes?

Anyone else able to shed some light on this subject or have a specific setup they can share? Maybe a six lug disc conversion or a five lug disc setup with a drop?

Rear are 15 x 10 w/295/50/15. Front 15x7.5 w/ 235/60/15...but next time Im gonna go with a 245 in the front.

I have 15" ET slots on my 1972 GMC and they just barely clear the stock calipers. Fronts are 15x7 and the rears are 15x10.

Hey 69GWC. Looks like American Racing is making a newer version of the slotted mag wheel http://www.americanracingwheelsinfo....t_Slot_Mag.htm but they only come in 7" and 8" depths. So... if you want the deep dish look (like the wheels on the back of the trucks pictured in this thread) you will have to look for a used set with the proper lug pattern for your truck.

Wow thanks I guess I did not see them in my lug pattern last I looked, think Iam going to get a set of them and the 4.5" BS is just fine with me I do not want them sticking out past the fender anyway.
Now i just need to order me up a set, oh and get the money to do so..lol
