CONCEPT: half fleet/ half step.
for now this is a concept... i got really bored while waiting for my ride from school today. so i sat there and thought. i want a fleetside and a stepside. i cant decide. then it came to me. but a short fleet and a short step. cut each in half. and weld them together. left would be step. right would be fleet. it would be major surgery and if done wrong could look like SH!T.dual color schemes as well. half torch, half black hood and cab top and bottom of bed could be a different color combining the 2 and on each side of the top could be little flames separating the 3 colors... this idea is really a stretch. i know

Well in Minitruckin' like last year there was a little Toyota Taco, it has a different color scheme on both sides, it was in no way semetrical, ICKY to me, but if you looked at two different pictures, you'da never knew it was the same truck. I'd say, do it. It wouldnt really be that much work, just cut each right down the middle and weld them back together, the tailgate would need some work, but who cares about the header part of the bed, out of sight, out of mind.

I admire your imagination.
If youwere to do this practically, how would you handle the different dimensions of the tailgate and bed front? Brian P.S. I always like making up problems like this and figuring out solutions. Keeps you on your toes. |

You're drifting aimlessly into Gremlin and Pacer territory.

Griesel,
I suppose if you really wanted to do the "Split image" concept, you'd accentuate the difference -- just make a flat plate to cover the end of the fleetside gate and weld the two halves together. That would look pretty funky <g> Brian edit: He's right, he DID say it first. And he mentioned my solution here. Ho hum, I feel so -- 20 minutes ago! B |

I enjoy the Dare to Be Different movement, but wouldn't it be easier to build a fleetside truck and a stepside truck. Take lots of pics if you do continue with your idea.

for the front and rear: take the side of each bed without front or rear. weld a giant steel plate in place of both.

no way in hell i could afford 2 trucks. the point IS to be different not to have 2 trucks. (almost) anybody could build 2 trucks... this would take some skill. ill post some pics of what each side could look like.

That would be a waste of 2 beds. Kinda like the sideshow half man/half woman freak.
