Grandpas 63
Grandpa had this old 63 LWB pickup in his backyard for about 25-30 years. He passed away a couple years ago. Shortly before he passed away he gave the truck to my brother who has owned it since then. He pulled out the tired 283 and replaced it with a good running mid or late 80s 350. My brother asked me if I would like to hang on to the truck for awhile. I will fix a few things and use it for daily transportation. We are keeping this one in the family. Any work on this truck will be slow as money allows. Wont be a restoration just fixing rust and making it a little more reliable. I'll update the thread occasionaly when anything is done.

Re: Grandpas 63
I told myself I wasnt going to get to carried away with this truck. Just make it a dependable driver. I don't think that is going to work out. I didnt even last one day.
![]() This happends everytime. My mind is going nuts with ideas right now. I don't think I'm going to be able to resist myself. I'm already scoring parts. First piece of the puzzle below. bonus points if you know what its purpose is ![]() ![]() Last edited by Bazooka; 08-22-2012 at 04:09 PM. |

Re: Grandpas 63
Nice old truck!!! Those parts look to be a t5 tailhousing and top plate assy. Possibly from a 80's f-body, two holes through tail housing look like for the third arm mount... am i right?

![]() Its the tailhousing from a S10 T5. Allows you to use a stronger world class camaro t-5 and keep the shifter farther forward in the proper location for the stock bench seat. considering a t-5 swap to get rid of the granny low 4 speed and to gain the overdrive 5th gear. I think it should be fine as long as i dont make a habit of dropping the clutch and powershifting it. At this point a t-56 is worth more then the truck i think lol Last edited by Bazooka; 08-22-2012 at 09:46 PM. |

Scored these 67 Chevelle poverty caps on ebay. Going to paint the wheels gloss black and slap these puppies on. Next is going to get a static drop. 4/6 or 5/7. Its going to get some chrome bumpers down later down the road.

Re: Grandpas 63
no it will not be big enough, since the hole is already there, you might as well go with a modern cd player, -what I did in my wifes 63..

Re: Grandpas 63
Drove the truck around today for the first time. Man I hate that granny low trans
![]() first time driving one. Its definitely not my cup of tea. I think there is something wrong with it too. Sounds like rocks rolling around in a metal barrel and makes a weird noise in neutral with the clutch engaged T-5 swap for me is a must have. I want to keep it standard shift cause I enjoy driving a standard shift just not this granny low trans. good news is the truck looks a lot cooler in person then the pics. I was pleased when I saw it. Was a little kid last time i seen the truck in person. Last edited by Bazooka; 10-11-2012 at 08:51 PM. |

The t5 came out of a running and driving car but I'm going to drop a fresh rebuild kit into it for peace of mind. Hope to do that this month maybe. |

Re: Grandpas 63
Trust me dude, I am SO sorry to hear about this!
My first 1966 Tempest Custom two door, no post, coup was stolen from a Colorado storage yard while we were stationed in Korea. I didnt have insurance on it because it was in storage.... So every time I move, I update my contact info with the police station that did the investigation. So if it ever is recovered, I can be notified at least. I am sorry for your loss man, I really do know how it feels.
