C10 1967 Project
I'm trying to fix the clutch on my 327 3 speed. The piece that engages the clutch, where the pedal linkage attaches, has sheared off. How do I get that off?

That's the z-bar - you have a few choices.
1. Remove it from the vehicle, take it and the part that broke off to a welder (unless you can weld it yourself), have it repaired and re-install 2. Go to a junk yard, bring yours with you so you can match it up and get another one 3. You can purchase one from Bill at Vintage Chevy - he stocks all used/original parts for 67-72 Chevy trucks and he can ship it to you, his website & contact below: http://www.vintagechevytrucks.com/index2.html You will need to get underneath the truck to remove the other side of the z-bar. It is attached to the block of the motor by a plate and a few bolts. Remove the bolts and the plate and the z-bar will drop down for removal. Just a suggestion - I would order parts from the LMC page that Beetle provided (#8-#14) this will help to aid in a smoother shift action once re-installed. Don't forget to add plenty of grease at the zerk fitting on the z-bar once re-installed.

Ouch!! I could weld that up for you, I'm just a few miles away. I just sold my old Z-bar a few weeks ago. Or I might be able to locate another.. Welcome to the forum!

One more thing to add - what made a big difference in a smoother shift action for me was to also replace my old original rod linkage with Heim/rod end linkage. I made my own but many places sell kit's if you are unable to make your own. The LMC page that user Beetle provided above has the kit (Rod End clutch Linkage Kit) and there are a few other companies that make them - they make a huge difference in smoothness and eliminate all the binding of the old original linkage. Try to provide us with an update and some more pics once you get your shift linkage fixed and good luck.
