1970 chevy my build on Valentines Day
this may take awhile the truck is almost complete , but not without the blood sweat an a few Tears along the way an alot of DOE $$$$ lol .
I was turned on to this web site back in the first part of this year from a guy that was interested in buying some of my old parts from my 70 ,telling me that there was alot on information from guys building these old trucks , from that point on I was Hooked . I started out just looking at trucks an some of the great projects that were under way an the ton's of good info an talent . I was recently responded to on Low Elco"s tread an he pointed out that he couldn't find my build tread ?? well I never started 1 . I jus was taken in by Low Eco's build an posted a few comments an some pic's of my build there . but in all fairness to Elco I will start my own Tread as it has been what seems to me as a Long road on this build. here are a few pictures of when I first got the truck on Valentines day in Hampton New hampshire . the body from the pictures looked good!! BUT it was one of the worst Examples of a Hack job to an old truck I have seen . started life as a CST modle which has the belt moldings that run done the sides top an bottom that were filled with bond an had more Waves than the beach Boys could Surf !! an pop riveted patches from Hell !! the list goes on . the good Part was that the truck was original from Virgina so at least the frame was rock solid an Had an nice running 327 - 410 posi rear . so Being in the Auto body biz since high School I new I had to Strip the whole truck down .. here are a few Pictures as I want to keep this short .. will ad more in the Next few days |

Wow, that is stunning! Some major work. Just absolutely beautiful!
Especially like this pic: Chevy truck and the American flag. Doesn't get much better than that!

Re: 1970 chevy my build on Valentines Day
ya I like that one to , it was taken just after I put the back body on . there are many pic's i didn't take of the build that would of shown more . but believe me when I say that this old truck was completely torn down with the exception of taken the motor or the cab off .
Hat's off to all the guy's that take pictures of every detail of there build to the point it could be in a how to tear down Guide !! the pic below was the day that I picked it up in Hampton New Hampshire an one of my interior as it is today |

I love the black and red. Now all you need is some Georgia Bulldog decals.

Re: 1970 chevy my build on Valentines Day
sorry it's taken so long to get back to you .
the hurst shifter works OK an was only temporary ! in my opinion it sits to low an is awkward to use , but it does bump shift nice !! especial when your foot is into the carpet !! going to put a lokar shifter in the spring as it will be easier for the wife to drive ! ya I said wife finished build last summer an she never drove it once ! ha ha an I heard about it every time we went out on a cruzzzzzzzzz owell kept the old truck dent an ding free ... |
