static drop

hello, new to the forum, peeked in for a while as I was looking for another mid to late chevy truck, and enjoyed all of the info, and suggestions from the members. OK, now to the "good, bad ,& the ugly. found a 65 swb fleet side, after getting it home and a more closer look, found that this will be a project, not a daily driver.
How low can I go w/o notching the frame in back, and 2' drop spindle & 2 1/2' drop coils in front too much? this is going to be more of a "shop truck"than a hot rod, just like the lowered look.thanks

Re: static drop

Welcome to the board.

Is '68 the correct year?
Just asking because you posted in the 60-66 section.

Re: static drop

No lower than 4" in rear without notch and you'll need adjustable tracking bar and shocks. Welcome from Michigan

A static drop = springs as opposed to an adjustable drop with air bags.

Re: static drop

Ok guys, I,ll try to post before & after rear springs, rear 3" front I have 2" but not installed. Liked the stance when I got the truck , but it was riding on the bump stops in the back( got a whole 1" space in the front), didn't care for the ride .

Re: static drop

this is what you get when you heat the springs to drop the ride, ( the short one just fell out when I jacked the truck up to put in the new ones), still trying to upload the other before & after pics, maybe I'll find some 6 yr old to do it for me!

Re: static drop

blocks will definately lower it more. might try selling the 3 inch drop springs and buyin 5 inch drop springs. be alittle more simple.

Re: static drop

ECE sells a 6" drop spring also.

If you add a block,... I wouldn't go over 1.5".

Re: static drop

Mine has a 3/5 drop with no notching. I am going to go lower and will notch the frame as I dont think I will have enough travel to roll another 2" out back. Going 2.5" spindles up front.
