Lol, I have allways ran Holleys easy to work on and I have had very little problems from them.
The 70 I just bought has a Eledlbrock on it but I can say much about it not owning it for very long but it starts easy and runs out well.

What motor are you looking to install on and what are the specs on it , might help everyone answer your question better.

Rochester spread bore,, better mpg, better performance. Holley's and re-hashed carter's (edelbrock's) cannot match the thrill of those GIANT secondaries opening up!!

i know they don't get a lot of love on here but I've ran edelbrock on a few trucks without the issues talked about here, fuel boiling, etc. and are pretty easy to tinker with. actually the only problem i ever had with them was off camber offroading, if u don't stay on the gas they flood out in those situations. that's another place the q-jet gets a point never had that problem with a q-jet. never tried holley, didn't hear much good about them while growing up.

None! Convert to fuel injection.

Really need to know the application to give a good answer. But IMHO in general if you want a cruiser, you need a Quadrajet. If you want a racer, you need a Holley.

I've personally never had a good working Q-jet, so won't give an opinion for them. I have had 6 Edelbrocks and 3 Holleys. 4 of those Edelbrocks were on the same engine in a matter of months becasue NONE of them would run right. One was on a 305 and ran just as bad as the others. The only good one I had was a 500cfm manual choke version on a stock 350.

The 3 Holleys I've had: The first and second were on my old 350. Both were 570 Street Avengers. The first one was perfect until I stripped the threads in the main body while changing gaskets on it. I called Holley and they sent me a FREE replacement. They usually send remanned units, but they were out, so I got a new one! That carb ran perfect also until the motor puked. When I say it ran perfect, it killed all the theories about having to retune it every time the wind blew a different direction. I set the initial tune, and never touched it, no matter the weather condition.

I'm on my third Holley now on my new LS1 engine. It's a 750 Street HP and I LOVE IT!!! I'm still in the tuning stages with it(yes they do require more tuning) but it's close and runs great!

Those are just what I've owned. My dad, however has three vehicles. One with an Edelburp, and two with Holleys. The two with Holleys run perfect all the time. The one with the Edelbrock is finicky, doesn't work well in cold weather, stumbles under WOT, and overall doesn't get as good of mileage as the two with Holleys.

I have no personal preference though I've had more Quads than Holleys.I think th real deal is tuning.If you know how to tune either,they will work fine.Most carb probems I have seen come from people not knowing how to check and repair when rebuilding(loose butterfly shafts coe to mind) or not knowing how to tune.I've seen both work well and both act like crap.I guess it just depends on which you want to learn to tune.

Holley- 750 spread bore, dbl pump. love it!! tried Edelbrock once when i was having my Holley re-anodized never could get it to run right, sent it back second one wasn't much better. So so happy when i finally got my holley back, looking brand new.

Of course my Holley is 40 yrs old so i can't comment much on the new ones, but i can say they last....

I took a chance and got one of the 950 Proforms. It is essentially a relabeled Quickfuel. On my 535 BBC on the dyno without even touching a single screw or jet on it the fuel/air was absolutely perfect. It lets the big cammed high compression BB idle all day long and it starts like it is fuel injected. Was very suprised but happy with it.

My last truck had a Quadrajet and the secondaries opened up nicely!! The Edelbrock feels like the secondaries are to small. Feels like I"m not getting enough fuel.

I like my quadrajet that I rebuilt myself. Of course that does make me a little biased! :-)

I have a Q-Jet on my 327 with a mild cam...you can definitely tell when the secondaries open up. I plan on swapping the intake soon and will more than likely swap the carb at the same time.

ive got an old holley spreadbore from when they were based on autolite 4100. i love this carb but you cant change the squirter size and i dont wanna drill into it. besides the hiccup off idle and the fact that i havnt tuned it in perfectly yet i like it and ill probably just replace it with the newer holley spreadbore once i have the cash

holley 650 model 80457s. Makes for easy adjustments and fairly ready to run out of the box. One prob in three years but it was my fault for not changing out the fuel filter and clogging it up
