Need opinions, good, bad or ugly
OK, so for starters for those of you who are purists you're probably not going to like this at all.... Sorry!
With that being said, I am working on a custom bed off of a 96 Stepside to mount on the back of the 67. I have done a bunch of custom fiberglass work on it... It has a rear rollpan installed and we have been kicking around ideas of grafting in a section in the roll pan for the exhaust to exit out of... Here are the two options I have come up with as far as exhaust exits... One is a corvette, the other is the cadillac cts-v coupe.... What are your opinions? Which one would look better??? |

Re: Need opinions, good, bad or ugly
Whichever you choose, my main argument against using the newer beds is the square wheel well opening versus the round original. If you could get that to match the front, you're on to something!

Re: Need opinions, good, bad or ugly
pics of the bed? also let me toss another idea at you. I always thought it would be neat to use a set of these, or a set of single tips
cut a section out of the rollpan and have the tips flush with the bottom and front face of the roll pan. Something like this. But i prefer square tips. MUCH smaller square tips.

Re: Need opinions, good, bad or ugly
I too would rather see them outboard than inboard.

Re: Need opinions, good, bad or ugly
The problem with doing them more outboard is I had a set of LED tailights that are made in the shape of a bowtie. I was going to put them more outboard in the rollpan because I think they would look funny closer together! The below is a rough Photoshop design of what it should look like or real close with the corvette style tips and the rest of the mods I have done to the bed. Notice the fuel tank door in the left rear of the fender??? That makes it so I can use the underbed fuel tank without cutting a hole in the floor!

Re: Need opinions, good, bad or ugly
Those look like steps more than exhaust tips. However, I do like this idea more than I like the CTS or Vette

Re: Need opinions, good, bad or ugly
of the two options I'd say the cts looks better, but i prefer the outboard look of the SS over the rest

Re: Need opinions, good, bad or ugly
I've been dreaming of doing this setup for years now, but I still don't have a welder and those tips alone are $150 from summit

Re: Need opinions, good, bad or ugly
i like the cts as well but will you have enough room for them between the rollpan and gas tank. anyways i think it'll look good i do have a question though, on your bed did you use stepshavers on the rear steps, imo they look alot better that way. i know the photoshop picture you used had these and without it i don't think the centered exhaust would look good.

Not about being a purist... that bed will just never go well with the styling of the cab. It just won't. Sorry. Every time I see that combination it makes me cringe. That said, IMHO, at this point it really doesn't matter what you do with it.
