cooling Help Needed...
Cooling help needed..! I have a 1970 gmc with a 383 stroker with very close to 500 hp. I'm running a TCI Street Fighter 700R4 trans. I have a 3 core rad that measures 28" x 18.5" with trans cooler mounted in front coming through Rad first. I have a 16" flex fan with shroud. I discovered to day that I have been running with no thermostat when I was attempting to replace it. I installed an 180 degree thermostat an im still idling at 230 degrees but highway temp is 190 degrees. I'm thinking I need electric puller fans unsure what cfm, I don't know. Any and all is appreciated, Thanks..!

I am using a shroud and I am not using an aluminum but it is a 3 core. The flex fan is only 16"...

Re: cooling Help Needed...
I would start with a stock clutch fan and a shroud.

I would expect to run from 200 to 210 degrees at idle, maybe a bit more but that's about the max for what I'd consider ideal.

Re: cooling Help Needed...
I agree with Stocker about the radiator.
However anytime you are trying to put horsepower to the ground you want to get rid of parasitics on your engine so an electric fan setup is always the best option if you have the cash. |

Re: cooling Help Needed...
I would stick a 18" clutch fan on it myself I would think that would pull alot more air in then what you have on it now.
