Re: What is this wire...

Temperature sending unit, usually installed near the front of the left head.

It looks like there is sender there, but it doesn't look like the correct one.

Re: What is this wire...

It looks similar to the horn wire.... but if it's run together with the coil wire, that's not it.

Re: What is this wire...

no tach on my dash, not that makes a difference. On the wiring harness it is with that coil wire. That 2 prong sender has me worried. It is similar to the horn wire, but i think the horn wire is heavier gauge.

They look more like "drippers" LOL.

If it is a green wire, in the engine harness with that loom and that connector, it goes here:

It looks like you have the wrong sender in that head, it should look more like this:

Re: What is this wire...

I hooked mine up today since it hasn't been hooked up since I got the truck and my temp gauge pegged out on the hot side. Plus someone in the past moved my temp sonsor from the front of the left head to the rear of the right head. Maybe I will just replace the sensor unless anyone has any other ideas.

Sounds like someone inadvertently swapped the heads after a valve job or something. Replace the sender, but make sure you get one for a gauge rather than for a warning light. Gauge senders have variable resistance based on temperature. Warning light senders are either "off" or "on".

The sender asnt moved more than
Likely the heads were removed and not put back on the same sides as they were.
