Steering box on Suburban
Hey guys: Any opinions on whether a little 2-stroke oil and a lot of tranny fluid could hurt a steering box (see thread below)? I'm replacing the power steering pump and brake booster (99 Suburban) and will flush best I can. Also curious about the best way to flush the system. Thanks for any help.

Re: Steering box on Suburban
I dont think it will hurt the box, Flushing with a Hydro-boost is easier.
Remove the Hydro-boost return at the pump, Plug the tube at the pump. Run the return to a bucket, (at least 5-gallon) Extend the hose if needed. Have about 5 quarts of fluid open & ready. Use a long funnel (to keep your hands away from the fan) Have someone start the truck, The trick is to try to match the amount of new fluid going in To the amount thats coming out. |
