How do I remove my stock 69' steering wheel??

Is there any videos or instructions anywhere any of you guy's know of? I would like to install a smaller wheel,but I have never taken off a stock steering wheel before. I have already run an auxilery horn button and hooked it to my horn. any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's pretty straightforward, but getting the old wheel to break loose if it's been on tight for 40 years can be a chore sometimes. All you do is take off the horn button and remove the horn guts just under the button and your wheel will look like the one in the pic below. Take off the big nut in the center and then just pop the wheel off the splined shaft.

Some guys will bang up on the backside of the wheel with a big hammer or their knees, but when the wheel lets go it's liable to knock your teeth out. A much easier and safer way to get it off is to use a steering wheel puller that threads into the two holes on either side of the big nut. Tighten it down and it will pull the wheel off. If it's real tight, tapping on the central shaft of the puller with a hammer when it's under tension will usually help bust it loose.

Yep get the $10 puller kit at the parts store. If your stock wheel is in good condition keep it, they're worth a few bucks. I personally like the stock wheels.

dont remove the nut completely....back it off so that it is still attached with a few threads. that way when the steering wheel "pops" it does not fly off and knock your teeth out as described above.

You can get a bolt puller at harbor freight for $12. I just did mine and it worked great.
