I think I just broke something...

I was backing into my parking spot at home just now and something happened to the clutch when I pushed it in. The pedal now won't disengage the clutch. Nothing appears broken and all of the return springs are where they should be. It's an '83 so it's mechanical linkage. Any ideas? Is a broken clutch fork common or could it be a messed up throw out bearing? With the engine running the clutch doesn't make any unusual noise either with the pedal in or out. I'm stumped.

Crawl underneath and look to see if ball end of the mech linkage has popped out of the clutch fork. It happened to me, the adjuster was worn and bent. Suprisingly the sm465 is pretty easy to speed shift.

Check the LMC catalog online for a good diagram of the mechanical clutch linkage, etc. x2 - crawl under the truck and see how you truck matches the diagram. I suppose it could be something simple like you lost the nut completely on the end of the adjustment rod, but you can see a lot just by looking around down there with a flashlight. I have an 83 SM465 and they are fairly simple -you can see everything mechanical easily under there.

I had a Honda that spit out a dampener spring and it got wedged between the flywheel and the clutch, effectively locking it together. The clutch pedal had no effect on it whatsoever.

Everything underneath looks ok. The clutch fork isn't flopping around so it must still be on the pivot ball. The adjusting rod is still intact and in the correct position too so the problem must be inside the bell housing. I SO did not need this right now...

Have you checked the z bar to see if the arms have "torn" from the welds?

sounds like it has a collapsed pressure plate.
