Hood springs

My old srpings where a bit weak , thus I bought a new set from one of the after market places I forget where. LOL these are worse than my old ones. SO the question is what OEM spring will swap in place and where can I get it??

LMC Truck should have decent springs and if you don't like them they will take them back. OEM is probably not out there. I would call and talk to a tech and tell him of your current problem with aftermarket springs and see what he says about his stuff or just keep your weak springs. I think I got mine at chevyduty at the time whcih is now classic truck parts. http://www.classicparts.com/1960-66-...ctinfo/38-413/ I think I got mine here. It was like 12 years ago. I didn't paint them I just ran them through the poisher and they never rusted.

I bought these from classic parts,,,When you put the hood up it will drop down a few inches. I can tell you that they where easy to install.. I took a large rubber coated hook for hanging a bike in your garage and screwed it into a 2 inch that wood dowel. and it was super easy to install I can tell you that the old ones are stiffer.. But those still drop just a bit, thus I bought new ones thinking that would be the fix.

Just wondering if this is only an issue on my end ,..that is not wide spread.

Was hoping that maybe a newer spring off something would swap directly over.

Well I called them and they told me that my hinges are to be extremely stiff and that is what helps with holding the hood up..

BTW all factory parts from hinges to sheet metal.. The hinges do move smoothly and do not have a bunch of resistance.. but they are not sloppy..

They are sending anthoer set for free to try.. it may just be that my hinges are wron and that is the issue. I may take them off and use an air hammer or my press to try and tighten that rivit up some.

Would new springs help bring the rear of the hood down? Mine stays up fine with no drop, but the rear is jacked up a little.

New springs won’t help. Your hinges are out of adjustment and will need correction, shimming, or replacement depending on what’s wrong. Here are the factory instructions on how to align the hood. Paragraph 4b, 4c & 4d on the third page address the rear height of the hood::
