Re: price to repaint
The cost will depend on:
1. The quality of work done 2. Amount of prep work that your truck needs 3. Quality / type of the materials 4. Small amount of profit to the painter The price range will be anything from $600 to $6000 plus. A $600 paint job will be pretty much a quick scuff job and paint. However, it won't last any time at all. It'll last just enough time to hopefully sell the truck. About $3000 is about what it will cost for something respectable. A $6000 paint job will include stripping off all the old paint, removing bumpers, windows, etc instead of masking around them. Basically, the big difference between a $600 paint job and a $6000 paint job comes down to labor.

Re: price to repaint
Echo the above comment. Part of what makes it so hard to guess is not knowing the shape of what you are starting with. The more rust and dents, dings that are already there means more work before it can even start to be sprayed.
Then there is the question of the paint itself. If it is a daily driver then something in a single stage paint by a reputable brand may be the way to go with lots of good prep work. If its a garaged show-only type truck, then a base clear is the way to go, and even the color makes a big difference. A metallic costs more for materials than a non-metallic, and colors like grey and white are cheaper than red. Also remember, if you pick say black as a choice then there is even more prep work because certain colors show imperfections much more readily than others - you can get away with a lower level prep job on a white or very light mint green truck than a black or similarly dark colored one.... |

Re: price to repaint
I have been getting several estimates that range from 5k to 8k to paint my truck. I have a friend of a friend looking at it this week, if he gives me another high estimate I'm thinking about doing it myself. Yeah the cost is mostly in the LABOR.

Re: price to repaint
I traded my last truck that needed to be painted for one that already had been painted. way cheaper and got a way better truck.

Re: price to repaint
You get what you pay for.
The quality of the paint & the primer alone can swing a job by a grand or more. |

Re: price to repaint
it all depends on what has to be done for the paint job to look right.. I was at almost $8K cause i had rust work they stripped it primed filled welded etc and did a two tone... i got a steal for the amount of work
