A little lean to the right....
I've recently made the 'upgrade' from my '49 AD via a couple good trades and bought this '69 C10. (photo to satisfy Rule #1)
There is a nagging problem however and that is that the rear of the truck has a slight list to the passenger side. It's not noticeable from the front. To my knowledge the springs are original. I know that the front crossmember and rear axle were changed to gain the 5x5 bolt pattern - but the rear springs I'm told were unchanged. Has anyone else had this issue? Could it just be spring fatigue or is there something more sinister I should look for. I'm told the front end is from a later chevy truck - I guess I need to call CPP and tell them what I have and ask them how to get it DOWN.... TIA. |

CPP will take good care of you. Do a nice 4.5/6 drop with a c-notch and she will be riding pretty.
Also that front end is 69'. Nice looking truck! Weev-

Re: A little lean to the right....
Thanks. I meant crossmember. PO told me it was a straight swap out of a later truck; 73+. Is he right? Will a 73+ xmember bolt straight in?

Re: A little lean to the right....
The conversion to the 73+ front end doesnt take a rocket scientist so im sure its fine.
As far as the rear suspension goes I'm sure its just saggy tired springs, so get under it with a tape measure and measure how long each spring is top to bottom. This method requires the truck is on the ground with the suspension under normal load. You will probably find that the spring is compressed more on the side that is lower and this will confirm our suspicions of worn out springs. If you cant get under the back of the truck at its current ride height you may have to put the back tires up on a curb or something usefull. |

Re: A little lean to the right....
Wanted to add that it could also be the cab mounts if they have never been replaced. Been looking into swapping out mine. They are rubber so if a few on the same side of cab and with the old springs could have you leaning pretty good.

Re: A little lean to the right....
My stepper has the 73+ swap and it worked out nicely. You'd just want to get dropped spindles and stuff for the same year model. 73-87 will work fine. I used McGaughys on mine.
Good lookin truck! I personally wouldn't worry about it too much until you get the new springs in it. Then if you're still leaning work on it then. Just my .02.

While you're under there, check the spring and axle mounting points and beams of the trailing arms.Sometimes the will rust and weaken. If they need replacement, rtry to find some 3/4 ton ones, they have added support.
