1st Project: '72 C10 LWB "Simple Things"
I picked up this truck a few weeks ago as a project for me and my boys to do. Having never done one I searched the internet and came across this incredible site. You guys are a wealth of information! I look forward to working on this project through the winter and learn a lot.
This is a '72 C10 LWB with a 400/TH400 I bought local here in Calgary, AB. I am sure I have no idea what I am in for so I apologize now for any stupid questions posted in advance. My Dad taught me a little bit about backyard mechanics when I was young but honestly I have not turned a wrench in some time! I was really excited when my oldest took a liking to old cars and trucks he saw at the local car shows so when I came across this truck I couldn't say no. Look forward to sharing this project with this site.

Welcome to the site! You won't have any problem getting any and all questions answered here as you start digging in. What do you have planned for the project?

Going for a ratrod look I think, matte paint and lowered. Been quite inspired by some projects on this site, awesome work.
I have spent the last few weeks scouring the local papers and websites for parts with some success. New fenders and cab corners first so I will start to dismantling the truck this weekend.

Very cool! For guys like us with little to no bodywork experience, finding solid replacements is a lot easier than trying to fix dents and rust on the easily replaceable items. I replaced both fenders and both doors on my 70 C10 with rust and dent free originals for well under $200. Just took some patience and a lot of time watching Craigslist for a good deal!

Well, It has finally begun!! Only took two years to get of my butt and get started. Got some help with the body work from a guy at work.
Found some donor sheet metal to fix a dented boxside. Lot less rust than expected.
