transmission bushings?
Hi All, I've tried searching the site for help with this BUT I'm not finding what I need. I'm in need of the part #'s (from GM) for the bushings that go between the shiftlevers on a 3sp saginaw & the shifter rods that come down from the column. My parts counter guy isnt too helpful... Any sugestions? Thanx.

if you have a lmc catalog check in there.thier diagram is pretty accurate in describing the parts needed,if i remember right they have them.

1969 GM part number 3748357 (group 4.037) They called it a grommet (the rubber thing) The pn is probably obsolete, but if you give the parts man that old number, he can do a history search & see if it's been superceded. Tell him it's from a 1969 parts book like they used before computers.

I called another parts guy & gave the #'s you listed jimfulco - they were superceded but he was willing to dig & he ordered what he thinks is what I need. They come in a bag of 10 but thats fine by me & they'll be here tuesday. All I gota say is thank God for GM 'cause they take care of you & your old iron. I'd told by a mopar friend that 7 or 8 years & thats about it for obscure parts - thats why I drive a GM. They goto bat for ya when you need it.

My book lists those for all 60-69 light trucks w/3-speed. Probably used way after that too. They only make them because they still sell them. I tried to buy a shifter boot for a 72 Nova w/4-speed & no console in about 1976. Discontinued. Same for the cheap plastic shift knobs. (We cast a aluminum one) I tried for a gas gauge sender for it in 1983. Also DC'd. Anything you can presently get from them is something they still can make a load of money from. I'm surprised they still make the valve cover bolt load spreaders from Corvairs. They do work well on V8's though.

PART # FOUND!
ok-the GM part # for the bushings (GM calls them grommets) that install between the shifter rods from the column & the levers on the transmission is: 3975132. I installed them today & they fit gr8 & the shifting is 110% better. Other pn#'s are: the spring clips that hold the arms/levers/bushings together is 15553615 (GM calls them retrainers) & the boot that seals the clutch fork to the bellhousing is: 3765360.
