68 Power steering
I am installing power steering on my 68 C20. From what I have read it should be a simple bolt on with an adapter plate or spacers and cutting the bumper support. However I am having another clearance issue with the body mounts, is this normal?

Re: 68 Power steering
IIRC I clearanced a bumper bracket to get mine to fit in a way that made me happy. I could be wrong though, it may have been the core support bracket.

Re: 68 Power steering
do you think it is safe to grind down that hump on the gear box to clear the support?

Re: 68 Power steering
I did this swap on my 67. I had to shave a bit off there to get it to clear. I shaved the core support and not the steering box.

Re: 68 Power steering
Thanks for the replies, I feel better now that other people are having similar issues and it wasn't as straight forward as the other threads made it seem. I do agree with you guys in that I should trim the support bracket, however the truck itself is not an ideal location relative to my garage, haha. So it would be easier for me to take the gear box off and grind it, but do you think I will do any damage to the gear box if I shave it down?

Re: 68 Power steering
I would rather clearance the core support bracket. It isn't going to bother anything structurally, and I think you are more likely to change the steering box in the future than the core support bracket so it will be one less thing to mess with if/when that day comes.

Re: 68 Power steering
We finally got our hands on the power steering setup we needed for our 69 c10 and we got the wrong brackets off of a 73 nova because the brackets were made for a non integrated head (I think, I'm not sure) but we had to make brackets this weekend and we had to cut the biggest one so it wasn't touching the intake manifold.
