What E.T with this set up?
I got '82 stepside shortbed GMC truck and I got this 383ci laying around for some time and a friend of mine which is a drag racer told me bring me your engine and I will rebuild it for you and give you a set up that will blow your mind so I did and lucky me I found a set of brand new AFR 210(1054) heads that I bought for cheap with 1.6 gold rocker arms for less than 1000$ so I went to my friend and told him give me the part numbers or what parts should I order and here is the list of everything I got
383 roller block 6" rods internal balance Aftermarket balancer and flexplate 0 weight Milodon diamond windage tray Moroso oil pan aluminum Moroso oil pump (175$) Edelbrock victor jr intake manifold 750cfm holley street HP Full msd ignition and might swap the blaster coil to HVC blue Battery relocation in the cabin TH350 with 3600 holeshot B&M 1995 Impala SS rear end Trick flow 246/254 .555"/.555" lift (on 1.5 and im using 1.6 so the lift is .592") on 112lsa Hooker long tube headers super competition 1 3/4" AFR heads 210cc intake port,2.08/1.60 valves,65cc chamber 80cc exhaust port Aeromotive fuel pump, fuel regulator and fuel filter 22gal. The truck already got Centerline pro convo wheels all around 15x8 front and 15x10 rear and was thinking of going 15x12 on rear Posted via Mobile Device

Re: What E.T with this set up?
What compression ratio are you shooting for? Any tricks with pistons (small ring package, light weight, etc...) will also find you some HP.
Not familiar with the Trick Flow cam you posted as to which lobe profile they use (aggressive?). A custom cam taylored to the AFR heads and intake used might find you a few more ponies. I hope you are at least using a roller cam? I'd prefer solid for an all out HP attempt. Need to run this thing on the dyno, and weight of the truck, along with suspension/driveline setup to really give you a good estimate on ET. Sounds like a good start though. |

Re: What E.T with this set up?
This engine if done right should net you about 500hp and up with those heads. You may want to check the cam and double check everything else. I know there are cams out there that will produce as much power while being drivable on the street
What's your gearing? I imagine with 373 gears and stick rubber mid 11 sec 1/4 mile times will easy to get. Make sure you have Caltracs or a four link for planting the tires and keep the tailgate up Posted via Mobile Device

Ok I might get Caltracs instead of four links or ladder bar but do they offer for leaf above axle?
