Hey guys, my name is Dallas I'm new to this forum and to these trucks. I bought a 69 C10 Custom about 3 months ago from a really cool guy who had the truck for 10 years and drove it everyday for most of the time he owned the truck. It was parked on a busy street and the salt got it good. Ive always loved these trucks since i was a little kid and i think this one is a keeper. Anyway I've got big plans for her so far i have replaced the bed with a rust free mostly straight bed, and I'm probably going to replace the cab also. Both rockers are shot, as well as the cab corners, the driver side floor is almost gone, the sail panels are rusted out where the floor used to be on both sides lol, and the roof by the windshield has some holes, the floor braces are shot, and the doors are hard to close. But in the spring I'm going to put a fresh Stroker in her, The engine in it now could use a rebuild there is a receipt for the motor being put in, in 92 which is the year i was born haha. I'm also going to lower it 4/5? And swap it to disks at some point but I'm starting school in spring so I'm getting alot of my parts off craigslist. I'm Not making a show truck here I this is gonna be a long term project and I plan on having fun with it.

This is my motor i power washed it and added the Edelbrock Torker manifold and edelbrock 1406 Carb(Huge
mistake it has almost no torque and im worried its going to ruin my Carb because it runs so lean and will backfire through the Carb)

My Pull and save seat!

And how it sits for now, Given the mistakes I've made on the motor, its pretty much parked until spring When
ill be swapping the motor to a more reliable setup.

I have a new to me grille, and some staggered chrome smoothie rims in my room. Whats a good product for polishing the grille on these trucks?
Also how are the aftermarket sport bumpers and window gaskets
for these trucks?

Thanks in Advance

Re: New Member!

Welcome aboard!
I have only had my 69 for a week today in fact!
Your truck doesn't look to bad in that picture. Is it really rusted out underneath?
I still need to rework my bed. It was wood, what's left of the wood is still there and they slapped a sheet of diamond plate over it all and tack welded it around the perimeter to the sides of the bed and such.

Welcome. Looks like you got the makings for a good truck. Like you said, "plan on having fun with it", that's what it is all about!

Re: New Member!

Welcome. You back firing thru the carb sounds to me you dropped the distributor in a tooth or so off, unless you just don't have it timed right or got some plug wires hooked up wrong. Dropping a distributor in can be a bit tricky. The first motor I built, I dropped it in and pulled it 4 times just to do it and get the hang of it. Plus, I was a teen then and didn't have anything better to do. And with the carb, them Edelbrock 1406's are a PITA and many of us that have them or ran them have problems with them. I am scraping mine for a 650 Thunder Series, never had any problems out of the 650's and 750's. I just got a good deal on the 600 and needed a carb at the time.

Anyway, welcome to the addiction. Make sure you watch the part's board, you can find some damn good deals on there. Got MC, booster, bracket, pedal setup, all the line from the frame up to the MC, and some other parts for my truck for $200. New from like LMC I would have been spending about $1000. So, pay attention and find some budget friendly deals. Good luck.

Re: New Member!

Wadmalaw: Thanks yeah its look decent from the
outside until you get under it, shes VERY rusted
out underneath. I have a metal plate bolted to whats
left of my floor and a piece of particle board for my
floor on the driver side so it feels like there is a floor
because I hated driving it and feeling like my feet
where going to go through the floor. The floor braces
are almost rusted out all the way to the cab mounts also.

GMCJoe: Thanks I'm pretty sure the Distributor is in right I've installed
a few and was very careful putting this one back in. It only will backfire
though the Carb if it isn't warm enough but it takes like 20 minutes to
warm up and I don't like waiting that long lol. But i think its the very
lean mixture that's causing Most the issues I'm having. I should have
left the 2-barrel on because it ran great with that but I HAD to have
a 4-barrel.
