Paint Code WE5730
I found a site that lists a 1972 GM fleet grey color coded WE5730. Has anyone ever heard of this 'fleet' color? If so, do you have pics of it on a truck?

Re: Paint Code WE5730
"Fleet" just means it was a commercial color generally offered on the larger trucks as a standard color. Also they could be special ordered on light trucks. It is a common medium gray often called "Granite Gray" that is sort of like a shiny primer. Since you "found" a site it is not on your SPID, right? If you like gray fine but it is a pretty bland color used by GM extensively in the late fifties, by Ford and Chrysler too.

Re: Paint Code WE5730
Thank you for the information. No, that is not the original color on my SPID. My original color 523. My interior color was not listed on my SPID, but was blue as well. I was wanting to change up the color, and wanted to go with a grey exterior with black interior. I wanted to stick with a color that was period correct. I found that grey during my investigation. I appreciate your oppinion on the attractiveness of that color. I guess if I could find a blue truck with black interior, I could see how that works as a combination. Anyone have pics of a truck with that combo.

Re: Paint Code WE5730
The Baltimore built trucks don't seem to have their trim colors on the SPID. The 523 Dark Blue is a great color! Keep it! Being as it was not quite as dark as the earlier 507 it would provide a nice contrast with a black interior especially if you keep the solid exterior and the trim. Most often these trucks are seen with blue interiors or the off white Parchment color that really sets off the blue. The choice is yours and black parts are easy to find and maintain. The black might be a little warm and blue is a nice safe choice. My favorite is white though. Are there any pictures of your truck you can direct me to?

Re: Paint Code WE5730
You nailed it. Mine is a Baltimore built truck. The pick you posted is great. I can hope that my truck turns out that nice. We shall see. The only pic I have on this site is the avatar. I would like to make an album, but apparently I have not earned the ability to do so. Maybe soon. Thanks for your help...from one Tim to another.
