Re: 1966 service id label glovebox lets see them
on the engine conversion. do you know where your truck was shipped to? i had that on my 66 cc ship to denver. i thought it might be a jet change in the carb due to high alitude ? does anybody have a 327 shipped to cailf. i was wondering if your oil cap is push on or twist on with a hose ?

Re: 1966 service id label glovebox lets see them
I think it's true that back then ANY vehicle delivered to CA had extra emissions equipment, regardless of where it was built. The law didn't state HOW to meet the requirement, but AIR was the most common way. It seems backwards that AIR would be considered standard, and they would "remove" it from 90% of the vehicles.
So... I'm still not sure what Z20 Engine Conversion refers to. Comparing SPIDs the exact verbage for the same RPO is sometimes different from Plant to Plant and Year to Year. Was Z20 a Fremont-only option? This is gonna need more examples to figure out. Last edited by VictoriaHardware; 07-18-2016 at 12:51 PM. Reason: typo |

Re: 1966 service id label glovebox lets see them
Regarding RPO Z20 Engine Conversion Equipment, this is in the 1966 Assembly Manual. It did several things-
(1) Threaded plugs were installed where the AIR tubes would go into the head (2) Thermostat was replaced, presumably with a different opening temperature (3) On L6 engines, the oil fill cap was replaced with a screw-on, non-vented one and a hole was plugged with a grommet (4) It also concerns the distributor but pages A3 & A4 are missing So - • Apparently ’66 was the first year for this option • It applied to all engines for CK10, 20, 30, and P10, L6 and V8 (???) • K19 (Air Injection Reactor) and Z20 were mutually exclusive • There’s no indication this was Fremont-only There’s a lot left to understand here. Not sure why this was needed. |
