Grease fitting on hub??

So on my right front hub, I have what looks like a grease fitting thats been rounded off. Its only on my right one.

Is this from a different year on the right, left been replaced, or something a previous owner has done?

Its preventing me from putting the wheels I want on the truck. So I'm trying to decide to remove n plug. Or find different wheels?

Never seen that before on a front hub but any replacement grease zirk should screw right in there. Just have to unscrew the zirk any time you want to remove the wheels. That zirk is not rounded off, the head is broke off.

I just want it out that way. If its not suppose to be there, I will remove it and fill it.

Yea, thats not supposed to be there. I would remove and weld the hole shut.

I bet someone drilled & tapped a hole for the zerk so they could grease the wheel bearing without taking anything apart.

Thats what I was thinking Stocker.

Its removed and plugged for now. When I rebuild the front, I will see if this spare that came with it is good and replace it.

Did that on my 88 V30 dual wheel CC, but with the dual wheel rim, the zerk is inside, behind the wheel. A couple shots of grease every so so, and the grease gets into everything without taking it apart. Don't know how it would work a a single wheel system. Also did the same years ago on a 77 Scout. Had to counter sink the zerks to allow the wheel to go on and off.
