Re: whats the difference?

The double wall top has 2 layers and bolts from the bottom up, single wall is 1 layer and bolts down into the bed rail

Re: whats the difference?

Also I believe you'll find most of your single wall tops were for CST's since they bolt from the top down into the bed rail like Berno mentioned, so you don't have to remove your rear interior panels to take the top on and off.

Leads me to believe the double walls were more common on your lesser optioned blazers (aka: no CST)

Re: whats the difference?

If you order the weatherstrip around the door windows, you'll find those are different too.

I believe the double wall came first and the single wall was a later option. It may only have been 72, but I'm not sure on that.

Re: whats the difference?

Has anyone tried to modify there double into a single wall? that thought crossed my mind last night and wondered if it could be done. singles are hard to come buy and almost everyone has a double.

Come down to phila., they are laying in my back yard

Also, some 72 model year had both mounts for single and double wall tops

Re: whats the difference?

I have read that Double wall tops do not have dome/cab lights, however, mine has two. Any thoughts?

Re: whats the difference?

My bolts install from the bottom of the rail into the top. Bottom to Top.

My brother had a single wall and I have seen both single and double wall tops before, I`m 99.9% sure I can tell the difference......

I`m sure I have a double wall!! I`ll take some pics this weekend.

My top has two dome lights on the drivers side above the left rear window.

Maybe I have some SUPER RARE SPECIAL ONE OF A KIND TOP...but I bet not!!

You have a single wall. And it has nothing to do with being a cst or not. It's just the change they made in 72. Like I said before, they put out a lot of 72 with double wall, till they used up their stock, then they went to single wall.

Re: whats the difference?

How much weight difference?
I have the chance to swap my double wall for a singe wall top. Depending on condition, I may go ahead with the swap....

I think its around 100 pounds give or take.
yes the the hole locations are different but drilling holes for the single is simple and then you can just use nuts under the bed rail.

Re: whats the difference?

If I remember correctly bolt holes in bedsides are different for those who want to change from double to single wall. (FYI)
