. . . .
I owned one a lot like that one, back in 1976. It was a 71 though and just had a "gutless wonder" 318 Detroit / 13 speed. Here's a picture of a different model too. . . . . |

I used to drive the GMC Astro version of that back in the day. Not one of my favorite trucks, especially in the wintertime. It didn't deal well with cold weather.

Re: Now this is a toy hauler with style! '70 Titan 90
The Titan/90 was basically a GMC Astro 95 with different nameplates, sold at Chevy Heavy Truck dealerships. Chevy set up a network of commercial heavy truck dealerships in 1970 and sold rebadged GMC's until 1980. The idea was just to sell a few more GM big trucks. Everyone in the business knew they were the same thing, but if you were closer to a Chevy dealer you probably bought the Chevy version. After 1980, Chevy sold only light and medium trucks.
The Astro and Titan were well regarded back in the day. The aluminum cab and large windshield did make them cold in harsh weather as truckster pointed out. And, they were the only big rig I ever saw that you could get sunburned knees while driving if you wore short pants! My company had a number of them, all day cab single drive with Cummins 350's. We got good service out of them for many years.

Here are a couple of brochure pictures to give some perspective. For those wondering a Day Cab is a non-sleeper truck.

That's awesome. I always like the GMC Generals with a convetional cab myself.

Re: Now this is a toy hauler with style! '70 Titan 90
Since this has morphed into a Titan/Astro memory thread and rightfully so, are there any SoCal members that have one as a work truck or a pet?

Seriously you should see some of the haulers that come into Willow Springs Raceway mostly new. Though I have seen several restored Class 8s pulling BIG 5th wheel rv trailers down the highway in in CA.
