Re: Franks'62burb4x4conversion
The '74 4x4 chassis (which is a GMC) had a SBC 400, but i swapped that out for a BBC 454
![]() For some reason I ALLWAYS end up getting GMC's, not chevys ,,,, My '73 prerunner Blazer... A GMC! just worked out that way. ![]() Anyway I shortened the frame 17" AND Zee cut it up, in the front or down in the rear to better match contour of older floor/body. Result; no big gap between cab and forward to core support! i reused some old frame channel to fill in top and bottom gaps. which completely isn't shown. the bottom of frame got filled in and I will "box" in the back. '62 now sits on 4x4 chassis nicely |

Re: Franks'62burb4x4conversion
what do you know? RUST! so get out the wheel of death and start cutting!
deeper and deeper i go. It ends up not much was left of rockers. replace both sides, up the A pillar a little way, and floor pieces. Now i see theres a complete front floor panel available... wish i had that when i started. i just kinda widdled what was gone and used floor "patch" panels |

Re: Franks'62burb4x4conversion
so i decided..off road truck, needs off road safety, plus i had to attach the old body to the newer chassis anyway, why not full cage it? ..2" chromoly tubing.
i plan on using this truck to tow and/or use it on the trails, chase vehicle at races. |

I like it. Is there any suspension lift? and what size wheels and tires are those?

i've been a fan of your stuff! no suspension lift to speak of , and the front springs are shot! I'm going to replace them....so the front should come up a bit. wheels -stock and tires are 35" x 12.50" x 16.5" , simply rollers for now, i have some 17"aluminum wheels... but I like the look now, and we know 16.5" are out! soooo...maybe some 17 steelies? Re: Franks'62burb4x4conversion
thanks, I like the look of those 35's.. I have been wanting mags for mine, but am also on the fence... the road de-icer here is h-LL on aluminum , so I might be better off with a set of steel wheels
